Frame Chain Flower (CM BLOG)

Tutorial: Rosy Frame Chain Paper Flower

It is a wonderful thing when it comes to making my own paper embellishments. I love to punch out shapes in a variety of sizes and layer them together for a 3D look or even creating a scene to go along with the theme of my layout.

For this layout, I wanted to add simple, yet bold details. By doing this, I created a tone-on-tone background with added texture and added handmade paper flowers to accent my page, while still telling my story.

Today, I am excited to share with you a simple tutorial on how to make these Rosy Frame Chain Paper Flowers, using your Border MakerFrame Chain Border Cartridge & Circle Maker.

Punch out three 1 1/4" circles using your Circle Maker & add a small dab of adhesive to the center of two 1 1/4" punched circle, using your Precision Point Adhesive.

Layer each circle together & set aside to dry. (approx. 5 minutes)
FCF.turorial2
Once completely dry, carefully scrunch up each stack of circles, layer by layer. It will look like a little ball of crumbled paper with a flat bottom. If circles are glued close to the outer edges, use fingers to un-glue so they will be easy to scrunch.

FCF.turorial3
Carefully open the scrunched layers so the flower looks full. Set aside.
FCF.turorial4
Punch out two border strips using the Border Maker & Frame Chain Border Cartridge(Note: For each flower there are two Frame Chain Border strips)
FCF.turorial5
FCF.turorial6
Use All-Purpose Scissors to cut four strips of seven chains - each strip should have seven full chains.
FCF.turorial7
Add adhesive using the Tape Runner to the center of each chain strip.
FCF.turorial8
Fold one end to center of chain strip. Add adhesive to the layered center & fold the opposite end of the chain strip.
FCF.turorial9
Layer three of the folded chain strips together diagonally.
FCF.turorial10
Once all three chain strips have been layered together, add a large Foam Square & affix scrunch flower in the middle.
FCF.turorial11
There you have a simple rosy Frame Chain Paper Flower.

For a larger flower, punch out three Frame Chain Border strips & cut strips into eleven chains per strip. Then use Circle Maker to punch out five 1 1/2" circles to layer together. Not only will the flower be larger, it will also be fuller.
This flower would make the perfect embellishment for any craft project, card or adorning a gift box.
Cheers, Cindy :)
